The COVID pandemic severely strained the public health system and impacted not just health, but education and employment of vulnerable communities. To address their issues, LBCT worked on 5 aspects that impacted the communities directly – health and nutrition, infrastructure, vaccinations, livelihood enhancement and education- from 2020 to 2022.

PROJECT SAHYOG

To support government health facilities during the period of burgeoning hospitalisations, LBCT in 2021, provided a total of 23 hospital utility items in various quantities to government hospitals. This includes 23 oxygen concentrators, 12 oxygen cylinders, 5 ICU beds, 2200 surgical PPE kits etc. amongst other medical equipment.

PROJECT SAMARPAN

Freshly cooked meals were distributed to migrant labourers during the COVID lockdown in 2021. Over 57300 meals prepared at JCB's canteen kitchens and distributed to the vulnerable in villages around JCB Plants across 3 locations viz. Ballabgarh, Pune and Jaipur, benefitting 2000+ community members.

PROJECT SANRAKSHAN

Vaccination camps were organized in association with the government as well as with private hospitals in villages nearby JCB plant across 4 LBCT locations. Through the camps over 21,000 villagers received COVID vaccination dose in the year 2021.

Along with this, safety kits including thermo-guns, oximeters, sanitizers, PPE kits and portable and sprayers to sanitize public spaces were provided to gram panchayats, government hospitals and production members.

PROJECT SURAKSHA

LBCT continued to work with the women from the communities through the lockdowns to provide them with a steady source of income. Women worked on creating masks based on new designs, the fabric for which has been procured from block printing artisan communities in Rajasthan. This additionally helped artisans to clear inventories that had stopped moving due to the lockdown.Over 16000 face masks were produced by women during the second nationwide lockdown in 2021.

PROJECT SAKSHAM

To maintain learning levels of students in government schools, education boxes were created and supplied to students from grades 1 to 8. Alongside this, their nutrition requirements were also met with dry ration kits that were also distributed to them. Over 5072 students were impacted through this initiative.
