Varshaben is the President of an SHG in Varasda village. A farmer, she was introduced to the Sakhi Mandal program, the benefits of SHGs, and the concept of a revolving fund in 2020. She was also introduced to and received training on vermicomposting around the same time. With guidance from the LBCT team, she laid worms at her farm for the first time.

Since then, using vermicomposting instead of chemical fertilisers has helped her lower input cost on her farm and save Rs. 10,000 per crop cycle. She also gets a 30-40% higher price for her organic produce. This has increased her family’s income and improved their socio-economic status.
